Strong and meaningful boy names
Congratulations dear mommy-to-be! Are you expecting a baby boy? Looking for the perfect name with a significant meaning? A name to express noble strength and masculine power? As some would even call it a “badass” name? You are in the right place. I put together a list of 120 strong boy names and their meanings. I hope I can inspire you to pick a meaningful name for your baby boy.
Children are a gift and will become powerful people one day. You might want to take some time to choose a name with a strong meaning and romantic associations at once.
That little person inside you will hopefully one day carry positive strength and power.
What to consider when choosing a strong boy name
There are quite a few things you should consider when choosing a name for your little boy.
- The sound of the name
The sound of the name itself as well as in combination with a second name and with your surname (and/or family name). You might also want to consider the sound in different languages. Choose from different spellings and pronunciations accordingly.
- Potential nicknames
You want to be sure to pick a name with positive potential nicknames. You wouldn’t want your baby boy to be called hurtful things or names that naturally have bad associations.
- The meaning of the name
Whatever the meaning of the chosen name is, it will be spoken over your child every day for the rest of his life. Make sure to choose a strong name with a powerful meaning.
How to agree with your partner on your baby’s name
Naturally, (most likely) you and your partner will want to decide on a name for your baby boy together. Try to consider the three main points mentioned above and find about 10 names each which you like. Then compare your lists and find names you both like and write a new list together. From there you can slowly narrow down your favorites and (usually over some time) come up with a shared choice.
Don’t let it become a stressful process. Instead, try to take it casually. If you feel like getting stuck with your decision-making, then take a break. Stop thinking about names for a bit. Usually, that helps to clear the mind.
When to choose your baby’s name
I absolutely wanted to make sure to choose our babies’ names before they were born. I cannot imagine the stress it would have added to having a baby without having decided on the name yet.
Due to that attitude, I and my husband started actively talking about names during the second trimester. We made our final decision at the beginning of the third trimester.
Clearly, that is not everybody’s take on it and some people decide to only make the final decision after birth, after having met their baby. That way they know for sure that the name will fit, they say. However, I would still recommend having a small list with narrowed down choices ready if you want to wait until after birth with choosing your baby boy’s name.
After all, it’s completely up to you and your partner. Just make sure you prepare in one or the other way however that might look like for you.
Following, you find a list with 120 strong names for boys and their meanings. Out of thousands of baby names, I chose the most powerful ones and hope to help you find the perfect name for your little baby boy. Enjoy the journey and get ready to make your very own choice!
